11月15日 Fish DiseaseI finally figured out what is wrong with my fish, they have ich. I didn't realized it before because the symptoms were not clear. This morning I discovered they are now covered in white spots, the 3 that's left of the 6 that is. Yep I lost 3 fish and I doubt the others will survive. In any event I decided to raise the temperature in the tank before I decide to use the ich treatment which I do have. It's just that I hate to use chemicals in my tank. So I will watch to see what happens in the next couple of days. What's also unfortunate about this whole thing is that I had recently bought some White Cloud Minnows and added them to the tank. Will see if they survive too. If I lose all my Goldfish, I think I will switch to warm water tropical fish. That way I can have a variety of species in the tank and more plants. Also I think they may be easier to are for. Will see how it goes in the next couple of days. So there folks, another depressing tale of aquarium life. Hopefully my next writing will be something more positive. Ciao for now. 10月23日 The World of Gold FishIt's been a while since I blogged much less talked about my fish family. The last time I mentioned them I told you that most of them died and that I had I think only 3 left. Well I am happy to say that the 3 Fan Tails that I had remaining are still a live and doing well and even growing.
It seems that the tank has settled and hopefully it will remain that way. This week I added a Calico Fan Tail so now I have 4 babies. I am actually thinking of adding 2 more Fan Tails but not sure yet. I wouldn't mind having 6 babies though and leaving it at that until I can get another Aquarium.
I have yet order the heater for the tank which I keep saying I am going to do. So far I have not really needed it as yet. Also I now need to change out the filter items, well not all at once. it's never advisable to change all 3 filter item at the same time since you need to keep some of the good bacteria.
A friend also suggested that I buy Hikari Goldfish Baby Pellets for them so I will order that when I order the other items. He swears by this fish food and since I know he knows what he is talking about I will do as he says.
Oh and the plants in my tank are doing well too. I even got a baby plant from the Java Fern. The baby plant actually broke of from the main plant and instead of throwing it out I planted it and it's growing. I really like the Java Fern because it grows new leaves from the bigger leaves and it's a really hardy plant.
As for cleaning the tank, I was vacuuming it every week but again I was told to vacuum every other week instead and just do a partial water change in between vacuum, so that's what I am doing now. I have also been feeding the fish once per day instead of twice, i think that's better, less chance of me over feeding them:)
Well that's it for now in fishland. Hopefully by the time I decide to update the blog I have the other 2 fish and would have order the items I need :)
